The American Navy pilot and Vietnam veteran who became known for surviving five years of imprisonment and torture at the hands of the North Vietnamese has passed away at age 81. Senator John McCain would eventually be returned to America, a physically broken man, but he did not let his time as a captive destroy his spirit.

McCain continued to be a political force for the Republicans, at times he had his disagreements with the party but was widely respected by the American people in general. After being diagnosed with brain cancer in July 2017, McCain ultimately decided to discontinue treatment of his deadly illness just days before his death.

The former POW represented Arizona in the Senate for decades and even tried running for president twice. McCain became unpopular among members of his own party for going against the GOP grain by advocating for campaign finance reform, liberalized immigration laws, and a ban on the CIA's "enhanced interrogation techniques" against terrorism suspects causing many to brand him a traitor. He even went on to tell Trump supporters in his new book, "Go To Hell!"

John McCain is gone. I won't even pretend that I am saddened by this. Not happy. Not sad. He was in many ways a traitor to the American people. Hopefully it will be a lot easier to advance America without McCain working to stop progress. I feel for his family.
— Brennamere (@Brennamere) August 26, 2018

Even President Trump has had his differences with the Republican senator tweeting against him several times over the last couple years.

McCain and Trump's relationship became and more strained when the former POW criticized the president's threat to withdraw from NATO:

"To abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems, is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned to the ash heap of history."

-John Sidney McCain III (August 29, 1936 – August 25, 2018)

This guy should've been dead the minute he gave away the positions of his fellow soldiers in exchange for preferential treatment. I'm sure ol' John rested happily in cushy conditions, being lulled to sleep by the screams of his tortured allies, belly fat on a diet of child-flesh.

Good riddance, you pathetic worm. You won't be missed by anyone that matters.

Oh, Lindsay Graham may shed a few tears for his lost boy toy- but I'm sure he'll find someone comparable to fill the slot; literally and figuratively.

We can only hope against logic and reason, that somehow, McCain transmitted his cancer to Graham during one of their lurid meetings.

Here's a fun fact about the 'hero' McCain (provided the pic loads):

I use to look at him as just a Moderate to Left of center leaning Republican.

But I started to understand that him and several other GOP senators were really not just RINO's but more Political Puppets.

In the 2008 election, while I liked Palin, I still really believe the FIX was in for him to lose to Hillary and a USA form of Socialism to win. Then Yo-Mama screwed Hillary over in 2008 . Then 4 years later Hillary stays out of jail and gets her 44Million debts erased by agreeing to stay out of the 2012 re-election. Then compound the fix in 2012 the GOP brought in a UTAH version of Mister Rogers'. Who never had a chance in hell.

When McCain's role of playing of Nam War Hero was finally exposed as fake, some 40 years later by the CIA audio tapes. When it was proved he was actually was a well treated communist mouth piece, held in better accommodations then other POW's. I thought his career was over. I only wish that America got to hear his North Vietnam Radio Propaganda broadcasts from 1960's sooner and he was never initially elected.

I really feel the Swamp, and DINO's had him under their thumbs his whole Political Career .

I also find it strange his people announce 3 days ago he was stopping treatment and he suddenly dies.

Sounds like he was assisted out the door.

Good riddance. The only good RINO neocohen warmonger is a dead RINO neocohen warmonger.

I hope he realized before he passed this would be the moment he would not get anymore chances to make right things in this life. There is no right way to do something that is wrong. It's like trying to pick up a turd on the clean end.

I for one am glad he is dead. His entire family is a bunch of traitors. he deserved to rot in hell. I will piss on his grave.

It's about time this traitor keeled over! Anyone that considers him a hero may want to look into idolizing Dhamer or someone similar - because surprisingly, McCain has a higher killer count than most of histories most prolific serial killers! And if we counted the people he's likely signed to send off to their deaths in foreign countries as armed forces, these numbers would likely be MUCH higher…! But here's a little history lesson:

On July 29th, 1967 while on the U.S.S. Forestal and at the time a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy, ol' 'Hot Dog' McCain decided to 'wet start' (a highly unsafe method of starting an aircraft, which results in a violent expulsion of noise and flames) his A-4E Skyhawk in an attempt to 'show off' - the resulting pyrotechnics and his own ineptitude caused a chain reaction; his weapons system became armed, and a Zuni rocket ripped across the carrier's deck and slammed into other aircrafts that were parked there. After a series of explosions, his foolish stunt resulted in 134 sailors dying immediately, as well as 161 more being seriously wounded (I.e. dismembered or critically injured); the explosions also nearly sunk the 82,000 ton ship due to the extensive damage caused. The whole incident was swept under the rug by McCain's father (whom was a 4-star Navy Admiral at the time, McCain's grandfather was as well), and John McCain was transferred to another detail to avoid any repercussions.

So, good riddance. He was no hero.
