Trump: ''Anyone Doing Business With Iran Will NOT Be Doing Business With US''

Just as European and UK leaders are looking for ways to circumvent the today installed US sanctions on Iran, which still is a major trading partner for most of them who do business internationally, US President Donald Trump issued a very stern warning.

Mr. Trump tweeted: “the Iran sanctions have officially been cast. These are the most biting sanctions ever imposed, and in November they ratchet up to yet another level. Anyone doing business with Iran will not be doing business with the United States. I am asking for world peace, nothing less!”

The news is seen as a response to the EU and UK’s joint statement that they were “determined to protect” European businesses working with Iranian companies.

They warned that the Iran-deal is a key element of the plan for global nuclear non-proliferation, and is “crucial for the security of Europe, the region, and the entire world.”

“We are determined to protect European economic operators engaged in legitimate business with Iran, in accordance with EU law and with UN Security Council Resolution 2231. This is why the European Union’s updated Blocking Statute enters into force on 7 August to protect EU companies doing legitimate business with Iran from the impact of US extra-territorial sanctions.”

France, Germany and the UK have major business interests in Iran.

More than 100 German companies are currently operating with their own staff in Iran whilst the country exported some $3.57 billion to the Persian nation last year.

The German government has assured trade organizations in the country it would be trying to get exemptions from the US government for them.

Mr. Dieter Kempf, the president of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), stated that the "German industry welcomes the clear willingness of the EU and the German government to oppose the extraterritorial nature of US sanctions."

Meanwhile, French oil group Total and French carmaker Peugeot have, after consultations with President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysée Palace, indicated they are likely to pull out of Iran in the US persists continuing with the sanctions.
