NFL’s Andrew Sendejo Takes Cue from Trump: “Make Football Violent Again!”

Minnesota Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo wore a statement hat to the training camp with the controversial message, “Make Football Violent Again.” It is, of course, an obvious take off from President Donald Trump campaign-winning slogan “Make America Great Again”’ and similar accompanying MAGA hat.

The message is also consistent with the views of POTUS when he commented last year that refs are “ruining the game” by penalizing players for making “beautiful tackles.”

Sendejo has always been controversial. He is recognized famously or infamously as one of the league’s hardest hitters. He was even suspended for one game last year for hitting Ravens wideout Mike Wallace in the head using his shoulder while attempting to make a hard tackle. He expressed displeasure with the penalty he was meted out then.

Sendejo wore the hat on the heels of the Ravens-Bears preseason opener where some guys were struck with flags for what appeared to be innocuous tackles.

The league vows to crack down even harder on players’ hits on the head. Sendejo is standing up against such policy even stronger. He is very open about his thoughts on the matter. He said: “I’ve been wearing this for a while. But I guess it applies more now.”
