The Fallacy Of Poll Results (Must See Videos)

The Hill published an article this week titled, “Poll: Obama tops list ranking best president in Americans' lifetime.”

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">They just didn&#39;t get it, but they do now! <a href="https://t.co/9T50NupkDy">pic.twitter.com/9T50NupkDy</a></p>&mdash; Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) <a href="https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1016079192604139520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 8, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The article states that “ more than 40 percent of Americans say that Barack Obama was the best or second-best president in their lifetime, according to a new poll from the Pew Research Center.”

It went on to say “the poll asked people in an open-ended format which president has done the best job in their lifetimes, using respondents' first and second choices for the survey's findings.”

“Forty-four percent of Americans said Obama was either the best or the second-best president in their lifetime, with 33 percent saying the same for Bill Clinton. Thirty-two percent said Ronald Reagan was the best or second-best president in their lifetime.”

I won’t bore you with the remainder of the article. The link will be posted at the bottom of the page.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Yesterday I decided to go see what these protests were all about <br><br>These protests weren’t about helping kids. This is about hating America and hating Trump <br><br>I’ve never seen a group of people with so much love for MS-13, ISIS, and law breaking illegals <br><br>Must watch!!<br><br>RT! <a href="https://t.co/GpHaXoFfME">pic.twitter.com/GpHaXoFfME</a></p>&mdash; Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11) <a href="https://twitter.com/charliekirk11/status/1013517885149413378?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 1, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

My issue with this, and many articles like it, is that they are not only very skewed but the methodology isn’t spelled out. Oh, a link is provided if you want to dive in and review it yourself. How many people will do that, or opt to just read the title and skim the article?

I took the time to actually read the methodology because I knew that Obama was not and never will be the best we could muster as a President. He has bifurcated this county beyond all measures and I am not sure we will ever heal from it.

Methodology:

The analysis in this report is based on telephone interviews conducted June 5-12, 2018 among a national sample of 2,002 adults, 18 years of age or older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia (502 respondents were interviewed on a landline telephone, and 1,500 were interviewed on a cell phone, including 998 who had no landline telephone). The survey was conducted by interviewers under the direction of Abt Associates. A combination of landline and cell phone random digit dial samples were used; both samples were provided by Survey Sampling International, LLC. Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish. Respondents in the landline sample were selected by randomly asking for the youngest adult male or female who is now at home. Interviews in the cell sample were conducted with the person who answered the phone if that person was an adult eighteen years of age or older.

What this means: The average person taking the poll could only have remembered Obama being President. If the person was eighteen then he would have been around eight years old at the time Obama was elected. Eight-year-olds do not care about politics. The most common response to a question of “who do you think has done the best job as President” would be Obama since it is all they know.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">OH, that&#39;s a pretty EASY question. EVEN if the participants were in their mid-20&#39;s… they&#39;d only remember two Presidents considering each held two terms. YUP, by default good &#39;ole Barry would be one of those two. Isn&#39;t&#39; that called &quot;stacking the deck&quot;?</p>&mdash; ⚡️teve ️ippin (@Steve_Pippin) <a href="https://twitter.com/Steve_Pippin/status/1017383434241609728?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 12, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

If you think there are people who actually don’t know anything about politics, watch these videos. Very enlightening.

After watching these videos myself it is easy to see that you could manipulate a millennial into giving you the answer you are looking for.

Please don’t be duped by fake polls. Look at the policies and how they affected our country. Compare apples to apples. Trump hasn’t even been in office for two years and has done more for our country than Obama did in eight.

Excellent article, sounds like a very skewed poll. Lexy is one of the pest at bringing thing to light.

If the pollsters are going to be this dishonest who’s to say they aren’t fabricating the entire poll? I don’t trust polls or pollsters for that matter!

Awesome article, Lexy! Everyone should read this to get a better handle on polling!! Keep the great articles coming!

Excellent article Lexy. Sheds light on polling and how jaded it is.

Jo No. 31318 2018-07-15 : 12:09

I don’t believe polls at all after the 2016 Election. However, reading this article and knowing the ways polls can be manipulated solidifies my beliefs even more. Really informative article.

Bruce No. 31319 2018-07-15 : 12:30

Excellent Lexy.

Too bad the only way to get a positive response is to poll someone who doesn't know history of the presidency.

SandyLee No. 31321 2018-07-15 : 12:45

Polls are as irrelevant as they were during the Presidential campaign. Great reminder, Lexy! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

i never believed in polls they can question you to get the answer they want! if we learned anything about polls 2016 proved they were a big steam pile of 💩! #MAGA Now!

Very skewed methodology to continue feeding the narrative. Great article. Thanks for digging to the facts.

DA No. 31331 2018-07-15 : 14:17

Polls are bogus. I don't trust polls. Unless you poll EVERY person, there is no way of getting an accurate count. The town over from me is full of hisidic Jews & welfare recipients… Their opinion will differ from mine on many things, including "the best president". My only point… Unless you poll everyone, they're never accurate.

DeplorableRN No. 31333 2018-07-15 : 14:36

These polls are done to fit the agenda that the pollsters are trying to make. I’ll never believe another poll. Thanks for the insight.

Emma No. 31336 2018-07-15 : 15:24

If I were asked whether or not Obama was a good president, I'd say, "He was absolutely the worse president we've ever had."

Rock solid reporting! No. 31377 2018-07-16 : 00:41

We’re there any doubts?? The MSM doesn’t report real polls! They are corrupt to the core.

Thanks for waking up some of the rest that don’t see what’s so obvious Lexy!

rcaps66 No. 31382 2018-07-16 : 01:39

That is kind of like asking about of high school or middle school kids who is the best player in a teams history. Most of the votes will go with a current player and ignore all the greats from previous generations, even if that player isn't all that good.

I don't trust polls! Neither does many other Americans, as we went out to vote no matter how bad the odds seemed against President Trump in the 2016 election.

Not only do we have fake news, now we have fake polls to!

It makes me totally sick that these brain dead people are our future! I pray that we are in the last days because when people think it's ok for incest, then the human race doesn't deserve to live! The road to heaven is very narrow, the road to hell very wide!

Polls mean nothing to me. They’re skewed to reveal what the pollster wants, not what real America thinks

This is the saddest videos I’ve ever seen, knew the generation was not good with history, but not brain dead-how can you object to a Confederate flag and not even understand the war?

"Unfortunately can you not cut out for this any more than you are for the sex industry anymore please."

lrn2english

That's not a properly formed sentence in any language. Gotta love the irony of a LITERAL illiterate calling out people for their "inability to write."

Hey samefag, why are you so obvious? I almost wish you had a life or some pleasure besides spending all your time in the comments section here calling out writers and commenters. You supposedly think The Goldwater is pathetic and trash? Imagine how pathetic and trashy someone has to be to spend all their free time soaking up free wifi at the Dunkin Donuts on their Obamaphone so that they can read and comment on every article.

Get a job, a life, a hobby, a home (even if it's a halfway house it's better than squatting outside coffee shops).
