Georgia - Rapper T.I. Charged With Three Misdemeanors

Atlanta rapper T.I. was charged with simple assault, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct on Friday in Henry County State Court.

The said filing of charges accused the rapper, Clifford Harris, Jr. in real life, of issuing a verbal threat and acting “in a violent or tumultuous manner” against security guard Euwan James at the Eagles Landing Country Club in Stockbridge two months ago. The country solicitor general’s office filed the said accusation.

The rapper was also accused of being “in an intoxicated condition in a public place” as evidenced by his boisterous conduct, profane language, an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person, and by his own admission of alcohol consumption.

According to the Harris County police report from May 16, the whole trouble started when Harris forgot his keys and the guard refused to let him enter the gate as is protocol. Such led to an altercation between the two, with James claiming that the rapper started yelling at him to open the gate and using profanity.

The rapper was eventually let in, but that didn’t pacify Harris and continued to confront the security guard. Harris for his part told the police that James wouldn’t give his name or his supervisor’s name when pressed.

T.I. only stopped haranguing James when he parked his car at his home, then he went back to James’ post. James said that is when the rapper issued the threat against him and challenged him “to come outside so we can deal with this man to man.”

T.I. even called his friend, Marquinarius Holmes, 40, of Stockbridge, to join in. The sheriff’s office said Holmes was then arrested on outstanding charges out of Clayton County for not having proof of car insurance.

The performer’s lawyer, Steve Sadow, claimed days after the incident that T.I. “was wrongfully arrested” and accused the guard of refusing him entry after the superstar’s wife confirmed he “should be let in immediately.”
