Delaware - Father Among Family Killed In Highway Tragedy Identified As U.S. Navy Veteran

An unthinkable tragedy took the lives of nearly an entire family in the blink of an eye. The terrible car accident on a Delaware highway left only the mother who barely survived and is hospitalized with serious injuries. The mother called a family friend at the hospital and cried, "They're all gone."

53-year-old Mary Rose Ballocanag lost her husband and her four daughters in the fatal crash Friday. Ballocanag's husband was a native of the Philippines and a U.S. Navy veteran who moved to New Jersey to raise his family. Mary Rose is a nurse at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan and suffered multiple fractures but is expected to survive. A relative said through tears, "Now my sister-in-law is all by herself. What will she do? This is like a tragedy 100 times over."

Delaware State Police identified the father as 61-year-old Audie Trinidad. Police did not release the identity of the minors who perished in the crash but news outlets did release the names and ages of the older daughters. They are 20-year-old Kaitlyn, 17-year-old Danna, and two 13-year-old twins named Melissa and Allison.

The Trinidad family was on the way home from a trip to Ocean City, Maryland on Friday when the crash occurred. The family was traveling on U.S. Route 1 when a pickup truck crossed the median and hit the family's minivan and another vehicle. It was unclear why the driver crossed the median but so far no charges have been filed. <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/trinidad-family-tragedy-amp-support">A GoFundMe</a> has been set up to help with funeral expenses and other costs.
