Perry to Leakers: Leave Government Now!

Energy Secretary Rick Perry slammed government officials who are leaking damaging and, at times, even classified information to the media, and categorically said that they should just leave their government posts.

Perry said he wants to be very blunt about it in an interview with Fox News. He said that those who want to govern through leaking should go work somewhere else.

The Trump administration has been hit by a series of internal information being leaked to the media including those that are connected to the ongoing probe of the alleged Russian interference in the U. S. election. Making matters worse is the suspicion that those leaks are being especially given to mainstream media outfits that are hostile or highly critical of President Donald Trump.

A case in point is the report of Washington Post last week claiming that Trump revealed classified information to two high-ranking Russian officials also. Another involves one media organization that Trump has criticized several times in the past for unfair coverage of him- the New York Times, which reported that former FBI Director James Comey said in a memo that Trump supposedly tried to influence him to drop the agency’s probe into former national security advise Mike Flynn and his alleged Russian connections.

Trump has been stressing since January for his officials to find the leakers in the intelligence community. On Tuesday, the President reiterated such sentiment. He posted the message: “I have been asking Director Comey and others, from the beginning of my administration, to find the LEAKERS in the intelligence community.”

Leakers often are motivated by a lack of trust in the chain of command. Trump, however, also has the discretion to only appoint and work with people he trusts enough not to share to the media information that should be kept internally.

Perry thinks too that the only way to stop the leaks is to put the right people in the government. Perry said that his advice for Trump is that number one priority should be to have a cadre of people around that are loyal, that believe in his philosophy, and who want to go where he wants to go.
