EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt Resigns

The administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency Scott Pruitt has tendered his resignation, and it was accepted by President Trump Thursday. Pruitt has been influential in carrying out Trump's agenda but was recently subject to intense scrutiny over a series of decisions where his ethics were questioned.

Pruitt's deputy Andrew Wheeler will assume his role as the agency's acting administrator beginning Monday. "I have no doubt that Andy will continue on with our great and lasting EPA agenda. We have made tremendous progress and the future of the EPA is very bright!" Pruitt has been under the spotlight for his behavior and spending practices.

The stories began earlier this year after Pruitt rented a room at a favorable rate from a well-connected energy lobbyist. Then it came to light how much he was spending on his own security which didn't help the scrutiny, but the straw that broke the camel's back was his decision to install a $43,000 private phone booth in his office. On top of all that there were allegations that Pruitt created a toxic professional atmosphere, especially for those who were critical of him.

At the time of his resignation, Pruitt was the subject of multiple government investigations and probes into his behavior. Pruitt insisted he had done nothing wrong but the EPA inspector general was looking into his protective service detail, his traveling at the expense of taxpayers, and some excessive raises given to some of his staff. The General Accountability Office and the House Oversight Committee are also investigation Pruitt for other possible infractions.

Hard to drain a swamp if you are going to cave in to their propaganda BS reporting.

Trump has a mandate from the American people he needs to start behaving like it. Let's see how the media reacts when they see angry Americans in mass and close up.

Trump's just replacing him with someone who can more subtly sell your health and living conditions to the highest bidder for short term profit

Pruitt had to go. He was too obvious with his misuse of funds and blatant conflicts of interest
