New York - Terror At JFK As Pilot Mistakenly Says Plane Was Hijacked (Video)

New York emergency services rushed to JFK airport after a wrong code was used over the radio which mistakenly said a JetBlue plane was being hijacked.

Port Authority police showed up in great number as a JetBlue flight at JFK airport was thought to be taken over by terrorists and first responders did everything possible to stop the plane reaching the terminal.

However, later in the evening, a spokeswoman for JetBlue explained the incident as a 'false alarm'.

“Shortly before departure, Flight 1623 from New York JFK to Los Angeles experienced a radio issue impacting the crew's ability to communicate and a false alarm was sent to JFK tower.”

“While communication was reestablished via alternate channels, authorities responded in an abundance of caution. The aircraft was cleared and returned to the gate for inspection.”

Terrified passengers who saw their plane surrounded by police vehicles recounted their side of the story.

Passenger Alexa Curtis said: 'Woah. My worst nightmare. JFK to LAX right now, honestly thought we were going to die. I am alive thank gosh I meditate. U guys what is going on. “

More than an hour after they were forced off the plane, passenger David Cruz claimed: “A supposed new pilot (not too sure) is here and the boarding has begun! I haven't been able to take any calls due to boarding in progress. No mention of compensation after this ordeal, just quickly being herded onto another plane.”
