Cologne police confirmed today that the Tunisian 29-year-old (named only as Sief Allah H. in accordance with German privacy laws) who was arrested a week ago, was in the final steps of preparing a Ricin bomb, a strong biological weapon which could have killed thousands of people if used effectively.

As we’ve informed you, the Muslim man (and his wife) were both arrested after neighbors complained about the strong chemical smell coming from his apartment and a CIA tip meant he was already on the list of suspect individuals.

The president of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), Mr Holger Münch, admitted to German broadcaster RBB-Inforadio: "There were very concrete preparations for such an act using what you might call a biological bomb."
Mr Sief Allah had traveled to Syria twice in the past year and had looked up online videos posted by ISIS on how to make the Ricin bomb.
Prosecutors admitted therefore that the suspect, who had bought the seeds online, indeed used instructions posted online by the "Islamic State" but that there still was no 100% certainty that he indeed was a part of the terrorist group.

The news comes in a week where US President Donald Trump claimed that crime in Germany had heightened due to immigration, a statement refuted by the Berlin government.
However, many on social media in Germany agree with Mr Trump and claim the government is unwilling to reveal the actual figures as they would be devastating to Chancellor Merkel.
