Sweden - Man Shoots Into Malmö Crowd: 2 Dead, 5 Wounded (Video)

A man fired an automatic weapon into a crowd in the Swedish city of Malmö yesterday, leaving two dead and several wounded. The authorities have quickly ruled out terrorism as a motive for the incident and claim that it regards a vendetta between rival criminal gangs. According to the official declaration, the two dead and great number of wounded is because crowds were outside celebrating Sweden’s win over South Korea at the World Cup.

An 18-year-old and 29-year-old died of their injuries shortly after arriving at a local hospital, according to Swedish media. It was unclear exactly what had happened with witness statements not backing each other up.

A police spokesman claimed that he understood that the shooter could have fired from within a car on the group of football fans that had gathered outside an internet cafe in Malmö's downtown Drottninggatan area.

According to another witness, some 15 to 20 shots were fired near the internet cafe.

Authorities urged the public to remain calm whilst they looked for clues. At this moment, there is no further information as to who the shooter or shooters might be.
