The traveling taste-specialist may not be going anywhere for awhile after the troubled Anthony Bourdain's body is stuck in bureaucratic red tape in France. The delay has forced funeral plans for the TV personality to be temporarily put on hold, according to the chef's mother. Bourdain's family is not just dealing with grief but also are dealing with the French government who refuses to allow his body to be flown back to the US to be buried.

The 61-year-old TV Chef hung himself in his French hotel room using the belt of his bathroom robe Friday. The chef's mother, 83-year-old Gladys Bourdain said, "They won’t be shipping his remains back for a couple of days because of formalities. Mrs. Bourdain said the red tape is pretty typical of the "ces’t la vie" country. The French Ministry of Justice is handling the investigation into his death but has said there are no signs of violence that would indicate foul play.
"Listen, I lived there for five years — nothing is done quickly," the elder Bourdain said. She added that funeral plans for her son are being handled by his wife, Ottavia Busia Bourdain because she remains his closest next of kin. "Although they’re separated, she’ll be in charge of whatever happens," Bourdain's mother said. "We haven’t talked for a couple days. I’m sure she’s as broken up as I am."

Bourdain is said to have stayed on speaking terms with his estranged wife after their separation and even shared custody of their 11-year-old daughter, Ariane, with him. The world renown chef was found dead on Friday by his co-star and fellow chef Eric Ripert in his hotel room at the Le Chambard hotel in Kaysersberg-Vignoble, France.
