A rooftop sniper reportedly opened fire in downtown San Diego Sunday afternoon as thousands of people gathered for an annual marathon. The police have taken the shooter into custody at the City Hall Parkade.

The shooting took place near the route of the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon, according to officials. As of 12:16, the marathon has resumed as participants run from State Route 163 along B Street and ending at Union Street.

A News8 reporter named Alicia Summers who is reporting from the scene said there is at least one injury after an officer shot himself in the foot. It is not clear if there are any further victims. KATV reported that police were able to locate the shooter and medics were possibly treating multiple victims.
