Those familiar with his actions films in the past may find it shocking to see the once dynamic, young-looking and robust Jet Li now looking frail and much older than his 55 years. The action superstar is battling with health issues.
A fan posted a photo taken recently with Li during a visit to Tibet. The fan said in his photo caption: “So apparently, Jet Li is suffering from “hyperthyroidism and spinal problems “ and this is him now.”

The post quickly went viral as fans of the action star expressed their concern for Li.

The “Once Upon A Time in China” star first disclosed in 2013 that he suffers from hyperthyroidism and a heart condition. He even said then, if jokingly, that he could go on making action films or spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
Now, he also appears bald- at least in the photo shared by the fan. Some commented that the action superstar looks around 70 years old in the photo, and not 55.
Li has also unfortunately suffered severe leg and spine injuries during his career. He even once admitted that he is unable to stand for an extended period without hunching.
His last film was shown four years ago, as he starred in “The Expendables 3” with some of the biggest action stars in the world.
But in a confusing twist, Li recently shared his series of photo from a recent trip to the Disaster Preparedness Learning Centre in Chengdu, where he appeared as healthy and in good spirit as always.
Compounding the confusion of the fans is Li’s co-star in “The Sorcerer and the White Snake”, Law Kar Ying, taking to Chinese social media platform Weibo expressing his well wishes for Li. He posted: ”Bless Jet Li for his physical and mental well-being. He is in a peaceful state of mind and happy.”
Jet Li’s manager, Steven Chasman has also spoken on the matter to say that his ward is doing fine. He added: “There’s nothing wrong with him. There’s no life-threatening illness. He’s in great shape.”
