A bizarre and tragic birth defect left a baby girl in India without parents after her mother disowned her because she believed the baby was cursed. The 28-year-old mother gave birth to the child at a government-run hospital in Patna district of Bihar in eastern India last year.

After the baby was born, dozens of locals flocked to the hospital to get a look at the girl's bizarre deformities. So many people gathered that doctors had to intervene and remove the growing crowd.

The baby girl's parents say they were traumatized by the birth and refused to accept the child because they believed her to be cursed. When they brought the baby to the mother's home she refused to hold her and feed her.
"I have no idea how did this happen. Me and family are completely devastated. I am in shock as I was really looking forward to becoming a mother of a healthy child, be it a girl or a boy," the mother said.

Doctor's gave the child a slim prognosis for survival since none of her organs have developed properly. The probability of survival in such cases is only one in 10 million. The rare genetic condition the baby suffers from is called "Harlequin Ichthyosis" and happens due to an acute case of malnutrition.

The disease consists of large plates of thick skin covering the body and accompanied by facial deformities. So basically this mother ate like shit and now her child has to pay the consequences and she doesn't want anything to do with her. It's too bad for this little girl who didn't need to suffer this fate.
