Just when Star Wars: The Force Awakens broke the Box Office opening weekend record, Avengers: Infinity War came along to smash it yet again. Previously, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens brought in $248 million for the biggest domestic debut of all time. Now, Avengers: Infinity War has exceeded that record with a $250 million dollar opening weekend in North America.

Worldwide, Avengers: Infinity War grossed a whopping $630 million making it the biggest worldwide debut of all time. The previous record holder for the global debut was The Fate of the Furious which earned $541.9 million. The record-setting opening of Avengers: Infinity War is all the more impressive considering it doesn't open in China until May 11.
Marvel's Black Panther is also performing extremely well in North America and is currently the top-grossing superhero of all time. Black Panther's own domestic total is sitting at a massive $688 million. Now, six of the top 10 biggest domestic opening weekends of all time are films from Marvel Studios. Avengers: Infinity War sits at number one, The Avengers and Black Panther now hold the second and third spots respectively.
