‘Last Emperor’ Fedor Returns To Show MMA He Still Rules (Video)

For those of you too young to know him, Fedor Emelianenko was in the past twenty years or so what Conor McGregor is for MMA now, the star and absolute ruler. He went undefeated from 2001 to 2009 and then moved on to what some assumed would be his ‘retirement’.

With McGregor locked in some ‘legal issues’ due to an outburst in public against a rival fighter (see our related coverage), Bellator 198 needed a star fight and got it with the return of the ‘last emperor’ Fedor who at 41, showed he still had at least one knock-out left in him. Going up against Frank Mir who could be seen at the weighing as more lean and more robust, no one had too much trust in Fedor pulling this one off as well.

But just as President Trump had a decade ago famously said ‘you always gotta go with Fedor’, so should the crowd have known better.

In a mere 48 seconds the great Russian-Ukranian fighter showed the world he still rules as he took out Mir with a few punches to the temple.

The winner of the fight was bound to be settup with Chael Sonnen, who entered the ring soon after Fedor had knocked out Mir and stated: “The only thing I hate more than being in the cage in Chicago is being here with you and I assure the next time I am, it will not be for long.”
