Trump to Hold Pennsylvania Rally Instead of Attending Correspondent's Dinner

Next Saturday President Donald Trump will mark his first 100 days in office with a big rally in Pennsylvania next Saturday. Trump tweeted:" Next Saturday night I will be holding a BIG rally in Pennsylvania. Look forward to it!"

Pennsylvania is special to the President. The swing-state delivered for him in the election, with large margins in hard-hit rural areas to give him the commonwealth's 20 electoral votes. Trump also chose to hold a victory rally in Hershey, Pennsylvania after winning the White House.

The planned rally of Trump next Saturday night will coincide with the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner, which Trump already said he will not attend. He announced skipping the media affair as early as February but this marks his first announcement about where he will choose to be instead on his 100th day in office.

Trump has been critical of mainstream media's coverage of him and he appears to be vindicated as a recent study reveals the mainstream media's coverage of his presidency has been remarkably more negative. Trump will hit his 100th day on April 29. Trump earlier also said that while he had accomplished a lot during this period, he finds the idea of using his first 100 days as marker for success or failure "ridiculous". Trump tweeted on April 21:" No matter how much I accomplish during the ridiculous standard of the first 100 days, & it has been a lot ( including S.C.), media will kill!".

Trump's proposed Pennsylvania rally will come after a predictably busy week in Washington, D.C. Congress, after all, has until April 28 to pass spending legislation to avoid a government shutdown. The Trump administration is pushing lawmakers to include funding for construction of the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, significant increased defense spending and $18 billion worth of non-defense cuts.

Trump also said he will introduce his plan on Wednesday for tax reforms. He tweeted earlier "Big TAX REFORM AND TAX REDUCTION will be announced next Wednesday". During the campaign in October, Trump also tweeted his 100 Day Plan which included tax reform, repealing and replacing Obamacare, ending illegal immigration, fixing Social Security, cleaning up corruption in Washington, and other proposed law including Affordable Childcare and Elder are Act, Restoring Community and Safety Act, School Choice and Education Opportunity Act, among others.
