President Donald Trump is aiming to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak, showing once again what a savvy political leader he is as he is determined to stop the incoming caravan of Central American migrants while at the same time maximize the event to wisely raise funds for his re-election bid.
Trump said in a message to his supporters on Thursday: “I have ordered the Department of Homeland Security to STOP the caravan of illegal immigrants trying to cross our WIDE-OPEN BORDER. But that’s not enough.”
Trump added in the fundraising email he sent to supporters: “We need a strong, impenetrable WALL that will end this problem once and for all.”
The email also asked supporters to sign a petition asking Congress to build the border wall so that “every liberal obstructionist senator” can see “the names of every patriot DEMANDING that we build a wall.”
Trump, a proven convincing and effective political campaign fundraiser then asked his supporters in the letter to make donations ranging from $35-$2,700 to help him fight “extreme obstructionism.”
The Associated Press has reported that more than 150 illegal migrants who are seeking asylum have already arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border at Tijuana. More are said to be on their way in the succeeding days.
Trump has always stressed that the said caravan is one huge reason why the country urgently needs to build the southern border wall.
Just a few days ago, Trump tweeted: “Mexico, whose laws on immigration are very tough, must stop people from going through Mexico and into the U.S. We may make this condition of the new NAFTA Agreement. Our country cannot accept what is happening! Also, we must get Wall funding fast.”
