MSNBC’s Joy Reid Lied About Hack to Cover Homophobic Attacks on Gay Community

The MSNBC anchor who makes her living off spreading division and hate - Joy Reid - has now been caught lying about an alleged hack that occurred on her website - a claim she made after making several anti-LGBT statements on her blog.

1/x From 2007 to 2009 @joyannreid authored a dozen homophobic posts not only attempting to out Charlie Crist as gay, she attacked & mocked him for being so.

She repeatedly referred to him as "Miss Charlie" and tagged posts about him under "gay politicians." (thread)
— Not a bot (@Jamie_Maz) November 30, 2017

MSNBC and other media outlets then began to spread the false claims of Reid that her blog was somehow hacked.

They all went to extraordinary lengths to continue the lie.

Cybersecurity expert Jonathan Nichols, an independent security consultant, recognized by MSNBC attempted to suggest that the blog posts were somehow altered.

NEW: Full statement from Jonathan Nichols, cybersecurity expert investigating alleged hacking of Joy Reid's blog:
— Hayley Miller (@hayleymiller01) April 25, 2018

Despite this, the Internet Archive Wayback Machine claims that this is untrue.

A representative from the Internet Archive, Chris Butler, not only says that the manipulation claims are false, but that the Wayback Machine will refuse to take down the archives of Reid’s posts.

Chris Butler of the Wayback Machine issued the following statement:

”Some recent press stories have discussed archived blog posts of a prominent journalist, Joy-Ann Reid, in the Wayback Machine and her claims that some of these posts were “manipulated” by an “unknown, external party”.”

”This past December, Reid’s lawyers contacted us, asking to have archives of the blog ( taken down, stating that “fraudulent” posts were “inserted into legitimate content” in our archives of the blog. Her attorneys stated that they didn’t know if the alleged insertion happened on the original site or with our archives (the point at which the manipulation is to have occurred, according to Reid, is still unclear to us).”

”When we reviewed the archives, we found nothing to indicate tampering or hacking of the Wayback Machine versions. At least some of the examples of allegedly fraudulent posts provided to us had been archived at different dates and by different entities.”

”We let Reid’s lawyers know that the information provided was not sufficient for us to verify claims of manipulation. Consequently, and due to Reid’s being a journalist (a very high-profile one, at that) and the journalistic nature of the blog archives, we declined to take down the archives. We were clear that we would welcome and consider any further information that they could provide us to support their claims.”

”At some point after our correspondence, a robots.txt exclusion request specific to the Wayback Machine was placed on the live blog. That request was automatically recognized and processed by the Wayback Machine and the blog archives were excluded, unbeknownst to us (the process is fully automated). The robots.txt exclusion from the web archive remains automatically in effect due to the presence of the request on the live blog. Also, the blog URL which previously pointed to an page now points to a generic parked page.”

Reid was set to receive the PFLAG “Straight for Equality in Media” award this may, but the organization on Tuesday decided to rescind it for the MSNBC anchor after the disturbing blog posts were found.

PFLAG National posted the following statement:

”PFLAG National—the nation's first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people, their families, and allies—today has rescinded its Straight for Equality in Media award to political analyst Joy Reid.”

”Said PFLAG National president Jean Hodges, “When we extended our invitation to Ms. Reid to honor her at our 45th-anniversary celebration, we did so knowing about the blog posts from the late 2000s regarding Charlie Crist. We appreciated how she stepped up, took ownership, apologized for them, and did better—this is the behavior and approach we ask of any ally. However, in light of new information, and the ongoing investigation of that information, we must at this time rescind our award to Ms. Reid.”

Joy Reid then argued to Mediaite that the posts were made by “hackers,” and that they weren't written by her.

Back in 2007, Reid wrote about numerous attacks towards then-Republican Governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, exposing the Democrat as not being the tolerant individual that liberals often claim to be. Reid said:

“Miss Charlie, Miss Charlie. Stop pretending, brother. It’s okay that you don’t go for the ladies.”

Later, Reid continued to attack Crist saying:

“Now that he’s married to a girl, Charlie Crist is being sought out for all KINDS of good stuff… [The GOP] are wooing Miss Charlie to run.”

She wrote about Charlie Crist often, claiming that during his honeymoon he was checking-out men instead of his new wife. The bigotry is indeed real from this liberal. She continued:

“I can just see poor Charlie on the honeymoon, ogling the male waiters and thinking to himself, ‘god, do I actually have to see her naked…?'”

In additional homophobic rants, Reid continued to say,:

“When a gay politician gets married, it usually indicates that he is highly ambitious, and desires to put himself in a position to move up the power ladder.”

At one point, Joy Reid even Admits she's homophobic:

”Does that make me homophobic? Probably. And I’m not exactly proud of it. But part of the intrinsic nature of “Straightness” is that the idea of homosexual sex is … well … gross … even if you think that gay people are perfectly lovely individuals. For the record I’m sure gay people think straight sex is gross, too, it’s the that the nature of political correctness is that gay people are allowed to say straight sex is gross but the reverse is considered to be patently homophobic.”

Another post from Reid perpetuates the wide stereotypes that homosexuals are pedophiles.

“And then there are the concerns that adult gay men tend to be attracted to very young, post-pubescent types, bringing them ‘into the lifestyle’ in a way that many people consider to be immoral.”

The last post we'll quote suggests that homosexuals are out to indoctrinate children through gay rights organizations.

“Ditto with gay rights groups that seek to organize very young, impressionable teens who may have an inclination that they are gay.”

Several homophobic and anti-gay remarks could be found in the Joy Reid blog, titled “The Reid Report,” which was in existence from the year 2000 until 2014.

Everyone is entitled to their free speech, that's not the issue. If Joy Reid believes the sentiments she's expressed, she's entitled to do so.

The problem is that she's lying about a hack, instead of taking responsibility… and that's what's causing her the negative publicity.

The blog posts were archived in 2006. They've neither been changed from within the Wayback Machine nor are they incorrect.

Even some of Reid’s own statements showcase the same sentiment on Twitter.

Joy Ann Reid says the screenshots of homophobic posts on her blog were fabricated. Was she also hacked by whoever made these homophobic and anti-sex worker tweets eight years ago?
— a fan of the super bowl champion eagles 🦅 (@usarsnl) April 23, 2018

All of these tweets are still up, by the way
— a fan of the super bowl champion eagles 🦅 (@usarsnl) April 23, 2018

Some transphobia, for good measure.
— a fan of the super bowl champion eagles 🦅 (@usarsnl) April 23, 2018

Look, we all had a pre-woke period. I would cringe if I was confronted with some of the dumb shit I said in High School, and Joy was barely 41 years old when she made these tweets.

But how are you gonna have any credibility as a journalist if you lie about things you’ve said?
— a fan of the super bowl champion eagles 🦅 (@usarsnl) April 23, 2018

Her claims that she's somehow being framed are laughable, considering that there's no logistical reasoning for her to be “set up” way back in 2006 when the posts were archived.

This appears to be more fake news from a fake news anchor, spouting homophobia while pretending to be an advocate for equality.

Joy lied. She made those posts. It's undeniable.

Again, there's no reason to lie. If you said something, admit it.

I am sick of Joy's lies and her nasty, vile mouth. I don't know how you can keep such a liability in your employment.

Joy Reid should be free to express her opinions, values and beliefs freely and without fear of revenge attacks by bigots from the other side of the issue. Besides, she repented and that should have been that. I sense there are forces in the Gay community who want to hurt others as much as they can – perhaps to "make up for their own pain – and don't particularly care about how they go about it. Another thought: could RACISM against Ms. Reid be involved? Could be.

Personally Im impressed by the quality of this. Generally when I come across these sort of things I like to post them on Digg. I dont think this would be the best to submit though. Ill look around and find another article that may work.
