From a PR standpoint, Starbucks had one of the worst weeks of its existence. The arrest of two African Americans in one of its outlets in Philadelphia simply for ‘looking threatening’ led to a compulsory nationwide training for all of its baristas (on 29 May all 8,000 US locations will be closed for ‘racial bias’ training), apologies from its CEO, an overflow of internet memes and, funnily enough, fake coupons offering a free cup of Starbucks coffee that were gladly accepted by employees not in on the joke.

A discovery in a Starbucks located in an Atlanta suburb now adds to the woes of the Seattle company as a 25-year old customer found a camera inside a restroom, which police confirmed, had been secretly taping people visiting the premises.

The police department was notified and the officers at hand declared that the video quality was poor and ‘no private parts’ could be seen on it, however: “we’ve learned that the device had about an hour’s worth of recorded video on it and detectives found 8 to 10 men and women videotaped while in that restroom.”
We fear that the internet memes will be flowing shortly again.
