Canada – ‘Entire Country In Shock’ Over Junior Hockey Team Tragedy (Video)

Canada wept for the junior hockey team the Humboldt Broncos which were involved in a tragic road accident on Friday evening which left 15 dead. The images of a mangled team bus which collided with a transport truck on a rural highway in the province of Saskatchewan, some 18 miles north of Tisdale in southern Canada, have shocked the nation.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed that "an entire country is in shock and mourning. Our national hockey family is a close one, with roots in almost every town, small and big, across Canada".

The Canadian PM thanked other world leaders for their condolences calls, amongst others from US President Donald Trump.

The town of Humboldt, where the team is from, is in mourning with many gathered in churches to pray. Pastor Jordan Gadsby opened his church: "The worst part of the night was sitting with and watching parents cry as they waited to find out if their son was alive or not."

Mr Rob Muench, mayor of the town of Humboldt, stated: "Throughout Canada we see teams going out into the Canadian winters on buses all the time and it's always a thought in parents' and fans' minds about what could happen."
