Bruce Campbell, the star of the classic Evil Dead film trilogy pranked the Doctor Who fan base hard this April Fool's Day (for the third year in a row). Bruce Campbell, known for his overacting, giant chin and such memorable characters as Elvis and Evil Dead's star Ash has been known for his quirky sense of humor both in the b-movies he's starred in and memoirs about his life.

Campbell showed up on the revamped version of Evil Dead in the form of TV show Ash vs The Evil Dead and shared a somewhat believable promo poster hailing him as the next incarnation of Dr. Who. It's ironic considering Campbell has made no secret of the fact that he hates the Doctor Who series.

Despite the fact that the initial poster was released in 2016, it seems to make the rounds about this time each year. The idea of an American Doctor Who might bristle some feathers in the hardcore fan base for the show, especially if it was played tongue in cheek by the likes of Bruce Campbell, still not nearly as bad an idea as a remake of Citizen Kane (considered one of the finest films ever made) starring Keanu Reeves… Just a reminder, never believe anything at first glance on April 1st.
