Oakland Mayor Ms Libby Schaaf’s actions against ICE in California are not as popular as she perhaps thinks. According to a SurveyUSA poll, a majority of registered Californian voters actually agree with President Trump when it comes to ICE action in going after those accused of committing violent offences.

In the survey on ICE’s actions, the most important question, posed just after President Trump’s criticism of the state’s response to immigration issues, was: "Should officials in California who become aware that Immigration Customs and Enforcement agents are about to take immigrants into custody actively work to help ICE do so … actively work to stop ICE from doing do … or stay out of the way…in each of the following situations? When ICE arrests immigrants accused of violent crimes?"

To this, a majority of registered voters (54%) stated that local officials should work to help ICE whilst only one in ten (11%) said it was needed to stop ICE.

SurveyUSA explains it conducted the survey (which has a 3% possible margin of error) with some 882 registered voters in the three days between March 22, 2018 and March 25, 2018.
