US Sex Cult Leader Who ‘Branded Women With His Initials’ Arrested In Mexico

Guru Keith Raniere, the co-founder of a group known as Nxivm, was arrested in Mexico yesterday and extradited to the state of Texas. He is due to appear in a Fort Worth court on charges filed by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn, New York.

The complaint states that Mr. Raniere led a secretive ‘sex cult’ which turned female followers of the group into brainwashed ‘slaves’ that were branded with his initials (he was known within the group as ‘Vanguard’) and then coerced into sexual acts with other members of the group. Mr. Raniere is therefore charged with sex-trafficking.

According to the complaint the group had ‘slaves’ and ‘masters’ and “during the branding ceremonies, slaves were required to be fully naked, and the master would order one slave to film while the other held down the slave being branded.”

Furthermore, according to the complaint, Mr. Raniere preferred exceptionally thin women, so his “slaves” were forced to follow very-low-calorie diets and document every food they ate.

If they didn’t follow his orders, the women were “forced to wear fake cow udders over their breasts while people called them derogatory names,” or threatened with being put in cages.

In a letter attributed to Mr. Raniere posted on a Nxivm-website, the guru denies the practices: “These allegations are most disturbing to me as non-violence is one of my most important values.”

Mr. Raniere was arrested whilst staying with several women in a luxury gated community in Mexico’s Puerta Vallarta.

According to the Nxivm-website, Mr. Raniere is a “scientist, mathematician, philosopher, entrepreneur, educator, inventor and author” and he has “devoted his life to studying the human psychodynamic and developing new tools for human empowerment, expression and ethics.”
