Washington: Triggered Son Kills Parents

A son was kicked out of his parents’ house near Buckley in Pierce County, Washington but in shocking retaliation, the 21-year-old man killed his parents.

Jared Standley was charged with two counts of aggravated murder on Monday for the death of his parents. Charging papers said the son beat his 56-year-old mother, Theresa Standley, to death, and fatally shot his 56-year-old father, Steven Standley, at their home nearly a week after he was asked to move out of the house.

Documents also reveal that the father was already worried and anxious when Jared showed up in their home that fateful day. Steven Standley called another son on Wednesday last week when Jared returned home unexpectedly. The father informed his other son that he should immediately call 911 should he fail to hear from him again in about 15 minutes.

The other son called 911 for help and sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the home in the 2300 block of 162nd Street East to do supposedly a welfare check, only for them to discover the parents already dead.

Steven Standley suffered a gunshot wound to the head, while the wife was beaten to death. Theresa Standley’s body was wrapped in a tarp fastened with duct tape.

Officers were able to locate the suspect in Thurston County, where he was shot in the shoulder after he allegedly drove at a Thurston sheriff’s sergeant in an apparent move to evade arrest.

Jared Standley was treated at a hospital and booked into jail.

The 21-year-old suspect pleaded not guilty at his arraignment. Court Commissioner Meagen Foley ordered him held without bail.

Investigators who interviewed the suspect said the son admitted to going home to kill his parents because “he hates them that much.” Jared Standley elaborated that he first beat his mother- who was alone in the house at that time- with a bat, hitting her a couple of times in the head before wrapping her in the tarp with plans to bury her. He attempted to clean the house after.

The son waited for his father to arrive home so he could also quietly finish him off by “shooting him quietly or stabbing him with a knife.” But as Steven Standley tried to push the door closed to block Jared from entering the house, Jared shot his father in the head through the glass on the door.

After the killings, Jared took his mother’s credit cards and cash, and cut his hair to change his appearance.

It is not clear if Jared is suffering from mental issues or under the influence when he carried out the heinous crime against his own parents.

Even if prosecutors should seek the death penalty for Jared Standley, it is not certain that they will get it as Gov. Jay Inslee put a moratorium on the practice in 2014.

From a Liberals point of view.

1. We need to outlaw all bats over 1 pound and 32 ".

2. A Law requiring Parents to fed and house their Democrat Registered adult children suffering House Displacement Syndrome until they are ready to leave.
