Malaysia-Murder Suspect Hid Behind Hotel Signboard for Hours to Evade Arrest

A Myanmar national murder suspect hid behind the signboard of a hotel in Kajang, Malaysia for four hours hoping to evade arrest.

His luck ran out when the police spotted him as they were patrolling the crime scene for clues. The suspect was arrested, about 70 meters from the hotel room’s window.

Police even had to request the assistance of firemen to bring the suspect down from the signboard he was hiding from, before taking him into custody.

The suspect is under investigation for allegedly killing a woman on Thursday night. OCPD Assistant Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the victim was found inside the hotel room in a pool of blood. There were several stab wounds on her stomach and chest, as well as wounds on her right arm.

It is not established whether the suspect and the victim knew each other prior to the incident, or they just met at the hotel. It is also not clear if the victim was a stranger to the suspect and was just randomly targeted.

The police recovered a kitchen knife near the victim’s body inside the hotel. The victim was a foreigner staying at the hotel since Tuesday. The authorities have yet to indicate the victim’s nationality.

The suspect will be in police custody for a week.

It is not yet clear where he would be tried in court.
