According to witnesses, Senate Chuck Schumer caused a scene in a restaurant on Upper East Side Manhattan on Sunday night. He apparently lost his cool and began hurling abuse at a wealthy and well connected Donald Trump supporter. He was eating out with his friends where he came across Joseph A. Califano Jr, the former secretary of health education and welfare, and his wife Hillary who were enjoying a quiet meal together.
Observers stated that Schumer became incredibly frustrated with Hilary after finding out that she had voted for President Trump. A witness reported "They are a highly respected couple, and Schumer made a scene, yelling, 'She voted for Trump!' The Califanos left the restaurant, but Schumer followed them outside." On the sidewalk, Schumer carried on with his fantastical filibuster: " 'How could you vote for Trump? He's a liar!' He kept repeating, 'He's a liar!' "
Hilary has also confirmed the story saying "Sen. Schumer was really rude . . . He's our senator, and I don't really like him. Yes, I voted for Trump. Schumer joined us outside and he told me Trump was a liar. I should have told him that Hillary Clinton was a liar, but I was so surprised I didn't say anything." These reports contrast with reports from another diner who insisted that Califano and Hilary went up to Shumer's table and had "a pleasant conversation. Joe said the senator was doing a good job on health care. Joe joked that Hilary voted for Trump. The conversation continued outside because everyone left at the same time." It should be noted that Schumer is a very vocal critic of President Trump. Just this Monday he demanded the removal of Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) as chairman of House Intelligence Committee. He has also mentioned that he and other Democrats are going to attempt to filibuster Judge Neil Gorsuch's nomination to the Supreme Court. It's this immature behavior amongst politicians that give the majority a bad name, they seem to be willing to do anything to prevent President Trump from implementing his ideas for change. Schumer seems to be intolerant to those with different ideas to himself. Perhaps he should embrace the democracy that we live in and learn to tolerate people with different ideas.
