Golden shower took on a new meaning when gold bars rained down upon a Russian runway in Siberia. A plane carrying a precious cargo of gold bars was taking off when the incident happened and left the precious metal scattered across the runway in eastern Siberia Thursday.

The plane was loaded with over 9 tons of gold and other precious metals when it took off but once it was airborne it became noticeably less heavy after nearly 200 gold bars fell from the aircraft. The expensive blunder left gold bars scatted across the runway and on a nearby car dealer.
The incident occurred when a cargo hatch failed after the aircraft took off from an airport in Yakutsk. When the crew noticed that the valuables were missing they decided to land at the nearby airport of Magan, about 16 miles northwest of Yakutsk.

Police cordoned off the area to prevent locals from picking up the wayward gold while they searched for every last bar. Interior ministry officials said, "172 bars have been found weighing around 3.4 tons." The value of the wayward cargo that was scooped off the runway is roughly $368,000,000.
The gold bars were originally from the Kupol mine which is operated by Canada-based mining company Kinross Gold. The spokesman for Kinross Gold confirmed all the gold bars were recovered.
