Two women in California were arrested in Folsom on Friday night after they were accused of stealing “several large bags” of clothing, mostly Victoria’s Secret items, especially bras with a value of $11,000.
Folsom Police Department identified the two women as Blanca Quintero, 22 of Richmond and Antanae Welch, 19, of Pittsburg. The pair was arrested around 8 p.m. near the Palladio shopping center in Folsom, after making a “successful” escape from the store where they got their loot.
An employee tried to stop the women from getting away with their theft but Quintero attempted to pepper spray the employee instead. The employee was uninjured.
The police were able to track the women down and arrest them, thanks to the useful description of the suspects’ vehicle given to them by the store employee. The vehicle description was passed on to other officers in the area. An alert officer spotted the suspects’ car as the women tried to make their escape. The officer stopped the car and found the stolen clothing. Officer then took the suspects into custody.
The authorities stressed that the grand total value of the stolen goods was $11,000.
Aside from being charged with theft and conspiracy, the pair will also face other charges as well. Quintero is also charged with using tear gas to commit a crime. Welch is also facing a charge of possession of counterfeit money. Investigators said they found a fake $100 bill during their investigation.
Quintero also had an outstanding warrant from San Mateo County.
Both women were booked into the Sacramento County Jail.
Many social media users praised the efficient work of the Folsom Police Department on the incident and most condemned the pair for their theft.
