A 23-year Bengali Actress was found hanging from the ceiling of her room in the southern part of Kolkata’s Regent Park. Police responded to the home of Moumita Saha after neighbors requested a welfare check.
They had to break down the door to get in the residence and that is when they found her hanging from the ceiling fan of the apartment Saha was renting. Saha was a native of Assam and police found a suicide note in her residence.
Kolkata police issued a statement saying,
"The house owner informed us today after the door of the flat was not opened since last afternoon. We have gone through her social networking site where her last post appeared to be written out of depression. We are going through her mobile call list."
Police suspect Saha was battling depression and it is known she was living by herself for at least the last couple months. Reports also say Saha was trying to break into the film industry but became depressed when she could not find success.
A striking similar circumstance took place last year in July when Assamese actress Bidisha Bezbaruah, who appeared alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Jagga Jasoos, was also found dead in her home in Gurgaon.
Bidisha's father became worried when she would not return his calls and called the police to do a welfare check on his daughter. Upon entering the residence, police found Bidisha hanging.
Her husband was taken into custody as a suspect after her father filed a complaint against him.
