Two teens have been charged with murder for their involvement in the shooting death of a 61-year-old man in Acres home on February 8th.
One is a 13-year-old boy and the other is a 15-year-old girl. Harris County authorities said the pair of teens shot Howard Boston in the face in the front yard of his own residence in the 5600 block of Hardwood Forest Drive.
It was not made clear if a struggle ensued between the young suspects and the elderly victim before the fatal shooting, or if the senior citizen put up a fight against the young ones.
Boston’s car was also stolen from the driveway of his home. Investigators said it was found abandoned a short time later at the Garden City Apartments in the 9600 block of West Montgomery Road. The authorities did not categorically specify if the teens involved in the shooting are also the suspects in the car robbery.
The authorities arrested the teens on Tuesday. It is not clear how the teens are related or connected to each other. It is also not clear if they are also residents in the same area as the victim.
It is not clear if robbery was the teens’ motive for the killing, or if they took the car only as an afterthought after the shooting. It is also yet to be established if the teenagers are known to the victim.
The identities of the teen-suspects were not released by the authorities as they are minors. They were booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center.
The elderly victim’s family has yet to release a statement on the unfortunate incident that claimed their loved one’s life.
