Emma Watson Mocked for Appearing with Spelling Mistake Tattoo at Oscars

Emma Watson is not only one of the most high-profile Hollywood actresses in terms of coveted projects and the reported hefty talent fees she commands, but she’s also one of the most outspoken female celebrities there is. Watson has never hesitated to share her thoughts on politics, women’s rights and empowerment, gender equality, among others, especially if it would mean advancing the liberal point of view.

No wonder then that Watson, who also happens to be a UN Ambassador, has gone to Vanity Fair’s Oscars after party fully intending to use the occasion and the media mileage the event enjoys to make a political statement anew. Watson did not fail and delivered again. She has become the talk of the town by carrying her political message proudly- except that it got noticed for all the wrong, embarrassing reasons.

Watson’s came to the party in a statement black dress, clad in attention-grabbing “accessory’, no not any bling-bling, not a designer bag, or escort in tow, but a temporary tattoo on the inside of her arm she fully wanted to showcase bearing her supposed commitment to the Times Up cause. Except that the tattoo on Watson’s arm was missing a vital component: the all-important apostrophe. Instead of “Time’s Up”’, Watson’s tattoo says “Times Up” changing the possible meaning, and definitely affecting the correctness of the statement.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">What&#39;s up with Emma Watson&#39;s new Time&#39;s Up tattoo? No apostrophe and that just a squiggle <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/TimesUp?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#TimesUp</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/EmmaWatson?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#EmmaWatson</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/tattoo?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#tattoo</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Oscars?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Oscars</a> <a href="https://t.co/tfkkXXztCB">pic.twitter.com/tfkkXXztCB</a></p>&mdash; Abe Steinberg (@abe_steinberg) <a href="https://twitter.com/abe_steinberg/status/970602642551574529?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 5, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The funny thing is Watson is an English graduate. People took to social media to express their disagreement and take Watson to task for the grievous mistake. Even some who agree with her statement and cause could not help but get annoyed with the actress for the glaring error.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Emma Watson&#39;s new tattoo is so beautiful, but the spelling error is really annoying. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/TimesUp?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#TimesUp</a></p>&mdash; Cerys Keen (@CerysKeen) <a href="https://twitter.com/CerysKeen/status/970599822792290304?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 5, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Normally a massive fan of Emma Watson, but not sure about how I feel about that fringe - and that ‘tattoo’. <a href="https://t.co/LRkIHorrbv">pic.twitter.com/LRkIHorrbv</a></p>&mdash; Eleni Paneras (@EleniPaneras) <a href="https://twitter.com/EleniPaneras/status/970613503227715584?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 5, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Some defended her arguing the missing apostrophe is insignificant, and can not dwarf the gravity of her message. Other say that Watson has been known to drop the apostrophe, anyway, in her previous social media posts as hashtags have yet to support the use of apostrophes in messages.

Watson has some online posts when she does get it right- the Time’s Up, that is.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Auctioning our Golden Globes dresses to raise funds for TIME&#39;S UP Legal Defense Fund. You can bid on my RVDK dress here <a href="https://t.co/Q1D1UFlzht">https://t.co/Q1D1UFlzht</a></p>&mdash; Emma Watson (@EmmaWatson) <a href="https://twitter.com/EmmaWatson/status/955239290119667712?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 22, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Or maybe clever Watson really planned it that way all along with guaranteed massive media mileage. Who knows? If only missing apostrophes could talk.

It's not a spelling error, it's a grammatical error. If you're going to nitpick about something nobody cares about, at least get it right

Vapid whore mutilates her body with meaningless platitude in order to fill the gaping void in her life that is supposed to be filled with her husband’s cock.

More at 11. For some fucking reason.

I once saw a tattoo misspelled "Bicth."

Note to self: don't forget to deepfake the apostrophe.

Now we have Tattoo Grammar Nazi's.

But a missing ' or not, the results of the Tat grabbed the same, if not more, attention.
