Massive Snowball Fight in Bristol "No Rocks, No Sticks, No Ice" (Video)

Student Carlos Sandin of the University of Bristol had thought of something to do as his campus was being hit with storm Emma (which struck the British Isles from the West) and the ‘Beast from the East’ at the same time and the school had announced there would be no classes on Friday.

He, therefore, as a joke, set up a Facebook event called “Massive Snowball Fight” hoping that some of his buddies would join him in some harmless fun.

Much to his surprise, some 2,000 people registered for the event, and on the day itself, several hundred showed up, including several employees and teachers of the school.

Mr Sandin had set out a couple of ground rules, which, when looking at the video footage, probably did not get followed too well.

- Snow balls only (no rocks, no sticks, no ice).

- No snow balls thrown until 3pm.

- If you’re not part of the fight and want to stop, raise your hands and move out of the way, hoping not to get hit anymore.

- Of course, for the others, don’t hit anyone who is trying to walk to the side with their hands up.

- Don’t hit the person filming the event (or the drone should anyone bring one).

- Make sure everybody stays safe.

- Have some fun!

The last one was particularly funny, as it stated that “Snowmen/women are protected citizens, if you hit one you’re getting bundled…”

The comments about the event afterwards had people begging for it to be organized every year, and comparing it to scenes from the movie Braveheart. We wouldn’t go that far, but it sure looked like it was a blast.
