Breaking: Active Shooter at Central Michigan University, Police Searching for Black Gunman

There's breaking news coming out of Central Michigan University where reports suggest there's an active shooter on school premises and an ongoing manhunt to find him as the school is locked down.

The initial call came into law enforcement in Mount Pleasant, Michigan at 9:30 AM Eastern, with the caller reporting shots had been fired near Campbell Hall on campus.

School officials tweeted via the Central Michigan University Twitter account telling students that police have advised they seek shelter and contact 911 if they see anything suspicious.

Located around 70 miles north of Lansing, Central Michigan has an estimated 23,000 students at the University on 1200 South Franklin Street in Mount Pleasant.

According to the Associate Vice President of the University, Sherry Knight, the University is urging students to stay where they are as the campus is on lockdown.

The suspect is being described as a "black male, 5'9" tall, wearing mustard yellow jeans and a blue hoodie, 19-year-olds old, who's armed and dangerous," and he's still at large.

"He is considered armed & dangerous. If you see the suspect, do not approach him. Call 911," police said.

There are conflicting reports of injuries, with Fox News suggesting that at least two people have been shot.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder said he has been in contact with local police to "determine what has occurred at Central Michigan University."
