‘Beast From The East’ Hits European Roads (Video)

The British have dubbed it "the Beast from the East", while the Dutch say it is, in fact, the "Siberian bear." Up north, the Swedes speak of the "snow cannon". No matter what it is, it is cold in Europe right now folks.

The funny gag about it, In Finland, the country closest to the North Pole, they also have a name for these kinds of conditions, they call it Wednesday.

For most countries in Western Europe though, these temperatures are nothing like they are used to, and equipment is failing. In London, an accountant said: "Nothing works when it snows in England."

"We don't have the right infrastructure or tools in place, so the city comes to a grinding halt, and people can't go about their business so they start to panic."

So far eight people have died in the UK either through freezing or road accidents related to the cold.

21 people froze to death in Poland whilst Bulgaria saw 40 centimeters of snow overnight.
