Horrifying 'Cinderella Diet Challenge’ Sweeps Teenage Girls Worldwide

Once upon a time, Disney decided to remake a live-action version of their famous Cinderella cartoon from 1950. They hired British actress Lily James and the movie grossed about $540million. Everyone ends up happy and end of story you would think.

But now the 2015 flick is resurfacing as a worrying global trend for teenage girls. You see, Miss James was wearing a corset in the film which explains her incredibly tiny waist.

However, a weight-loss trend (which started in Japan, where all viral things seem to start) based on her appearance in that film is sweeping the internet, or at least the side that teenage girls watch.

The goal is to make your ‘Cinderella weight’. To calculate this, you have to square your height in meters and then multiply that number by 18.

the. cinderella weight thing going on jp twitter. if that's a thing ppl aim for, if i understand it right. it's rly rly scary. We rly don't need to put more pressure on girls here to lose weight. if anything we should push for more strenght, even if you end up heavier!
— gay yandere@bed (@vanilla_buns) February 19, 2018

Twitter users are now sending out how much they would have to lose to complete the challenge and are asking their followers to play along. However, doctors are warning about the “Cinderella weight” as it aims for a body mass index of 18. That number is officially classified as underweight on the BMI scale.

According to website Healthy Celeb which estimates and tracks celebrity weights, the actress Lily James weighed 55kg (121 pounds) at her 1.7m (5ft 7in) height. For her height, James would need to be 52kg to achieve the Cinderella weight but because of the corset, she looked skinnier.

This is bad. Bad influence of Hollywood, too. Those Japan viral challenges got to stop. Parents should know what their children are up to. You dont want them dying of starvation just because of a stupid challenge.
