Investigators say a New Jersey teen wanted for killing a 10-year-old boy and injuring his mother last week was arrested in Pompano Beach Sunday night.
18-year-old Karon Council is being held in Broward County jail awaiting extradition to New Jersey where he will face charges including murder, conspiracy to commit murder and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Council's crimes began Wednesday when 10-year-old Yovanni Banos-Merino was killed and his mother, Lilia Merino, 38, was injured after a gunman opened fire on their home in Asbury Park. Authorities say both victims were not the intended target. The following day, investigators arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the shooting at his high school.
On Friday, prosecutors announced Council had also been charged with the murder and they needed help finding him but did not release any further details. Council has since been apprehended and is sitting in Broward County jail awaiting extradition.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office issued a statement Sunday on Facebook saying, "A very special thanks to all who made this apprehension possible including the US Marshals of Florida, Regional Fugitive Task Force, West Palm Division with the assistance of US Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, Trenton Division."

A GoFundMe page was set up for Yovanni's funeral and has raised $15,476 of its $30,000 goal as of Sunday night. One woman who made a pledge to the campaign said, "As a mother who has lost a son, I hurt along with you, We can only hope that one day people will put their energy into loving others instead of hurting others. I know that God will give you the strength to go through this pain and ultimately give you peace."
