Does curiosity really kill? Unfortunately, such was the case for an 18-year-old Dallas woman who was just in the comforts of her home when she decided to simply check what the seeming outside disturbance was all about. Now, she’s dead after being shot on Saturday afternoon.
The woman and her 16-year-old sister were just standing inside their second floor apartment around 2 p.m. in the 5700 block of Highland Hills when they heard an apparent commotion or source of disturbance outside.
Curiosity prevailed and the two went to their window, after which an unknown man shot at them from the level below.
The 18-year-old woman was shot in the front torso area and sustained injuries. She was brought to the hospital where she later died.
The 16-year-old sister was shot in the back and is in serious condition at a local hospital.
Dallas Police say the suspect arrived in a white Dodge Charger possibly a 2005 and 2010 model with tinted windows and white rear spoiler. The vehicle also has stock black wheels.
Authorities also describe the suspect as a black male wearing a dark color hoodie with a distinct logo on the back and writing on the left sleeve.
The motive for the shooting is yet to be established. It is not clear whether the victims were really targeted or they were just randomly shot at.
The police officers are not releasing the victims’ identities yet.
The authorities are also seeking the public’s help regarding the said murder and in establishing the identity of the suspect. Anyone with crucial or helpful information is requested to immediately contact Homicide Detective Isom, #9272, at 214-671-3701 or email at [email protected]
