Orange County Sheriff's Office says a 14-year-old student has been detained after an explosion damaged a bathroom at Timber Creek High School Saturday morning while a debate was in progress.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang and seeing smoke and water coming from a school bathroom around 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Sheriff’s spokesman Jeff Williamson said several students were at the school at the time of the explosion for a debate tournament.

No injuries were reported but students were evacuated to nearby fields while bomb-sniffing dogs from several law enforcement agencies swept the school for more explosives.

Among the responding agencies was the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Authorities confirmed a 14-year-old Timber Creek student was detained in connection with the explosion and they are conducting an arson investigation.
"We'll put as many charges as we can on this or on any case like this," Williamson said. The identity of the 14-year-old suspect is currently unknown.
The explosion comes in the wake of the Parkland high school shooting that left 17 dead and over a dozen injured last week.
