The wintery weather and the frosty conditions combined with some Asian booze apparently got to one of the Canadian athletes (Mr Dave Duncan) as he, his wife and their technical coach Mr Willy Raine (the son of Canadian skiing legend Nancy Greene) were all arrested on Friday in Pyeongchang for stealing a car and driving drunk.

Without being specific as to who actually drove the car, South Korean police stated that ‘the driver of the stolen vehicle had a blood-alcohol level of .162.’

The legal limit for driving in South Korea is .05. Another person in the car was passed out. The vehicle stolen was a Hummer.

Asked for a reaction, Canadian Olympic Committee CEO Mr Chris Overholt stated that: “there’ll be an appropriate time to do that, it’s not now, it’s an evolving matter.”

“We want to be respectful of all parties involved and when the time comes, we’ll have further comment I’m sure.”

“I can’t speak to the specifics of the circumstance and what may have led to the situation.”

“We have a transport plan for every Games, we work hard at all of that to be ready for everything in the context of our participation here, so all those things are true, but again I’m not familiar enough with the circumstances enough to tell you what happened in this case.”
