Group Behind Tracking UFO Sightings Calls for More Public Cooperation

According to data collected by the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) based in Washington state, three separate sightings of UFOs have been reported across Shelby County in 2017.

The first sighting was reported to have occurred in Helena at around 7 p.m. on September 15, 2017. A second report said that a UFO was visible for nearly three hours over Alabaster at around 11 a.m. on October 20, 2017. The third and final sighting is reported to have taken place over Chelsea at approximately 11:20 a.m. on November 27, 2017.

NUFORC Director Peter Davenport said that such sightings are “not proof of anything” but that they strongly indicate that “we are not alone and we’re regularly visited.”

The anonymous person who submitted the report on the first sighting claimed they saw a single, circular, bright light in the sky that they initially mistook for an airplane. The account said: “It appeared as though it was an airplane flying overhead toward me. The light was there for about five seconds and then it just disappeared. It was as if it went into a cloud. However, it was evening and there no clouds in the sky. I kept looking for the ‘plane’ for a couple of minutes, but I never saw it again.”

The second sighting was described as a bright oval light moving extremely slow. The sighting was reported to have occurred for at least two hours. The third sighting also by an anonymous person who reported it said he/she saw two white, cigar-shaped objects flying parallel in the sky. 20 minutes later, the witness saw a third white cigar-shaped object of similar size in the sky.

Davenport said that the challenge for them is that out of 10,000 to 20,000 people who may spot a UFO, only one or two of those ever bothered to file an official report. He encourages people not to hesitate, and to help them do their job by reporting such sightings.

Some Americans may think that there are enough strange things happening in the country involving real people, real events, and objects to bother with UFOs. They may dismiss UFOs as irrelevant to their lives and the country’s interest. However, there’s also some gain to the scientific study of UFOs that can start with mere sightings because studying the phenomenon not only helps researchers discover the true nature of UFOs, it may also lead to significant scientific breakthroughs and technological advancements to improve life in the planet.

The benefits of studying UFOs are also not limited to the scientific and technological, for there are also the societal benefits to it, including the potential change in how the man would potentially view himself and fellow humans. Throughout history, man is always the center of his own universe and acknowledged to be on top of the living creature pecking order. It’s interesting to know if the possible discovery of more advanced life forms in the universe would change man’s perception of his privileged place in the cosmos.

It doesn’t hurt then to keep one’s eyes open to the potential sightings of UFOs- and equally an open mind to what can be discovered.
