Parents Of Badly Beaten 1-Month-Old Jailed For Child Abuse

Two people unfit to be parents were arrested Wednesday around 1:00 a.m. after Miller County Deputies responded to Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana regarding a 1-month-old female who was suffering from multiple injuries.

The emergency room physicians say the baby was suffering from multiple fractures and required transport to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. The victim was transported by an Arkansas Children’s Hospital Angel One medical helicopter from St. Michael’s for special treatment due to the extent of her injuries.

Miller County Sheriff’s Office said upon further examination they found the 1-month-old infant was suffering from multiple rib fractures, pelvic injuries, and possible skull abnormalities. The victim was admitted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital where she is undergoing treatment for her injuries.

Miller County lead investigator Patsy DeHart, the Arkansas Department of Human Services and the Arkansas State Police began a criminal investigation. Thursday, February 15 at around 3 p.m., members of the Miller County Sheriff's Office Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions arrested the baby girl's parents.

Charles Uribe, 28 and Crystal Uribe, 23, were both arrested on charges of Battery 1st Degree and were transported to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. They remain in jail on $250,000 bond and the investigation remains open into the girl's parents. More charges could follow pending examination of additional evidence.
