Former Mexican President Vicente Fox addressed a crowd in Texas during the World Affairs Council's International Educator of the Year event at Belo Mansion in Dallas this Monday as he is promoting his new book “Let’s Move On.”

Mr. Fox is a controversial and complicated figure whose positions on issues ranging from immigration to drugs on both sides of the border, both in the US and Mexico, raise eyebrows.

Asked about the estimated 700,000 Dreamers faced with deportation on March 5th when their work permits expire under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) he called upon the many, originally from Mexico, youngsters to “resist.”

“Nothing is going to happen to you. You are too valuable.”

He furthermore assured them there would be jobs in Mexico. Asked what he thought about the White House’s proposal to exchange DACA for funding for the border wall between the US and Mexico, Mr. Fox clarified: “We should not exchange the wall for DACA. It is criminal to do so.”


“This guy Trump, he is against any good reasonable principle of economics. The U.S. will lose millions of jobs if NAFTA is ended as Trump has promised.”


When asked about the narcotics gangs from Mexico, Mr. Fox responded, “I am a big promoter of legalization. That is the way out of this trap.”
