His influence was felt in Washington and foreign capitals. Even in the corridors of New York City government and in great universities and public schools.

Mr. Rockefeller was the last surviving grandson of John D. Rockefeller.

John D. Rockefeller was the tycoon who founded the Standard Oil Company in the 19th century and built a fortune that made him America’s first billionaire and his family one of the richest and most powerful in the nation’s history.

As a beneficiary of that legacy, David Rockefeller lived all his life in privilege.

He once thanked the media for its involvement in secrecy surrounding these secret society meetings.

He said that he was grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine and other great publications whose directors had attended the meetings and respected the promises of discretion for almost forty years.

Mr. Rockefeller also emphasized that it would have been impossible for the secret societies to develop its plan for the world if it had been subject to publicity during those years.
