Department store chain Macy’s recently launched a clothing line for Muslim women, including a collection of hijabs, the scarf-like head coverings used as a show of modesty around men.
However, as an opinion piece in the Washington Times says, that is not really anything surprising or even big “news.” After all, as an establishment with primary commercial interests, Macy’s would always go for anything that can give them additional profit.
What makes for eyebrow-raising “news” is the response of so-called liberal feminists to the announcement of Macy’s to offer Muslim clothing line including hijabs. Feminists not only welcomed the development but they cheered!
The president of the National Organization for Women even went on Fox News to rave about the “pretty spectacular buying power” of Muslim women in the U.S. All that gushing while conveniently forgetting that the product she and her sisters in the feminist movement are rallying for is one of the most glaring symbols of women’s oppression in Islam. Hijab is a sign of a woman’s submission to men, or their inferiority to them.
More importantly, the liberal feminists are conveniently silent on Islam itself, a religious belief that simply destroys all sorts of women’s rights and gender equality.
The feminists never raise their voice to the fact that there is nothing in the Islamic religion that benefits the free-thinking, freedom-loving female.
In fact, a Pew Research Center’s Religion & Public Life said in its 2013 report about Women in Muslim communities that in nearly all countries surveyed, a majority of Muslims say that a wife should always obey the husband.
Whatever happened to the much-vaunted supposed feminist mantra of being free from patriarchal control, about doing away with perceived misogynistic influences from society? They went to the streets flashing those pink genitalia hats on their heads protesting Donald Trump only to cheer for the Muslim symbol of oppression like the hijab now?
It’s hypocrisy and vested political agenda at its worst again for feminists and liberals. Because it always appear so politically-correct to rally for Muslim concerns and matters, even if in the process these feminists expose their inconsistencies and double standards.

What's there to cheer? Feminists should protest Islam instead for looking at and regarding women as second class citizens!
