Nikolas Cruz - Grim Details Emerge About Shooter

It seems there were multiple warning signs leading up to the third deadliest school shooting in American history Wednesday. The 19-year-old shooter, Nikolas Cruz, has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder after killing over a dozen of his former classmates.

Now, teachers have come forward to say they had warned school authorities of Cruz in the past after he brought weapons to school including live bullets. "We were told last year that he wasn't allowed on campus with a backpack on him," Math teacher Jim Gard said. "There were problems with him last year threatening students, and I guess he was asked to leave campus."

President Trump weighed in on the shooting early Thursday morning saying there were many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed. He goes on to say that such instances must always be reported to authorities, again and again.

School officials will not say why Cruz was expelled from school but one 17-year-old student named Victoria Olvera said it was because of a fight with his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend. A former classmate of Cruz named Joshua Charo said, "I can't say I was shocked. He seemed like the kind of kid who would do something like this."

That sentiment was echoed by nearly every other student.

Superintendent Robert Runcie said, "We received no warnings. Potentially there could have been signs out there. But we didn't have any warning or phone calls or threats that were made." Cruz told his family he was staying home from college because it was Valentine's Day.

Cruz would go on to carry out a devastating and lethal assault on unarmed children. Cruz was apprehended without incident an hour after the shooting at a nearby apartment complex.
