Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has told Turks living in Europe that the best way to get back at Europe's "injustices" against them is for them to have more children. Erdogan said having a minimum of five children would be good for his people staying in Europe.
Erdogan said that having five children would be good because they are " the future of Europe". Erdogan appears to be suggesting for Turks to increase their population in Europe. It is perhaps due to the old belief that there is strength in numbers. He said producing more children will be the best response to the injustices being done against Turkish people in Europe.
Erdogan also told Turks in Europe to live in better neighborhoods. He advised them to drive the best cars, and live in the best houses.
Erdogan made the comments Friday while campaigning in the city of Eskisehir. The Turkish people are set to vote on April 16 to decide whether they want their present parliamentary system changed to a presidential one or not. Erdogan favors a change as a presidential system would give him more powers.
The Turkish leader has been really angry at European nations especially the Netherlands for not allowing his government to hold rallies and campaigns among Turks living in Europe. There are about a million Turks living in Europe.
His foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu even warned that holy wars will soon begin in Europe. Cavusoglu also said that the victory of Prime Minister Mark Rutte's party in the recent Dutch election was not good.
Cavusoglu was insulted when his scheduled rally in Rotterdam last week was cancelled. Dutch authorities also took back the permit for his plane to land in the country. Erdogan and his popular ministers got back at Dutch officials by calling them fascists and Nazis.
Turkish online hackers also took to social media to hit the Dutch government. They used the hashtags #NaziGermany and #NaziHolland.
European leaders reacted and said the words of Erdogan and his people are offensive and unrealistic.
