Police responded to a shooting outside NSA headquarters near Fort Meade, Maryland Wednesday morning but the NSA says "they are handling it."

Initial reports indicated three people had been shot and wounded with at least one person in custody. The FBI indicated they are also investigating.

The NSA confirmed the scene is now under control and there are no longer any threats. Anne Arundel police say they are not the agency investigating the shooting but are assisting law enforcement.

The shooting saw Maryland Route 32 closed in both directions and it is possible it will remain closed during the investigation. The incident began when a driver ignored commands to stop, the NSA said. Barriers were deployed and the vehicle accelerated.

NSA police opened fire on the vehicle and it crashed into a police vehicle. One occupant of the vehicle died at the scene and another was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.
