Video - Oxfam Sex Scandal Widens

As we reported during the weekend, one of Europe’s biggest NGO’s who provide help to refugees and immigrants has become embroiled in a sex scandal when it became known that some senior staff of their organization has used corporate funds to pay prostitutes for parties during the aftermath of the devastating Haiti earthquake in 2010.

With $44 million of government funding to Oxfam hanging in the balance, all senior managers of the organisation were summoned to a meeting with Britain’s aid minister Penny Mordaunt.

Oxfam reacted over the weekend with a statement: “the misconduct findings related to offences including bullying, harassment, intimidation and failure to protect staff as well as sexual misconduct.”

Whereas you would assume that after this the scandal would simply die down, it is now only widening as French press jumped in by recounting stories about how the also EU funded NGO did the same thing during a mission in the African nation of Tchad in 2006.

By now, both the UK government and the EU are threatening to cut aid whilst people are calling in to radio shows saying that ‘Oxfam is only the tip of the iceberg’.
